The lectures for the 10th edition of the PEF School are scheduled to take place at the Engineering Graduation Hall of UNISA, located within the Engineering Building (Building E) of the Department of Industrial Engineering.

How to reach us

By bus from Salerno

The University of Salerno is situated on a campus near the town of Fisciano, approximately 10 km north of the city of Salerno. The campus is well connected to Salerno by public transportation. Bus Timetable

From Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO) & Naples Capodichino Airport

Travelers arriving by plane have two main airport options: Rome Fiumicino Airport (FCO), also known as “Leonardo da Vinci,” located approximately 270 km from Salerno, or Naples Capodichino Airport, situated about 60 km away.

For those flying into either Rome Fiumicino or Naples Capodichino, detailed instructions are provided below to reach Salerno Railway Station by train (Options A and B, respectively). Alternatively, from Capodichino Airport, a direct bus service to Salerno is available (see option B*). If you arrive in Naples by bus, you may proceed directly to instruction B2.

  1. From Rome Fiumicino Airport (Leonardo da Vinci) to Salerno

Below are the directions for travellers arriving at Rome Fiumicino Airport who wish to reach Salerno Railway Station.

A1. From Rome Fiumicino Airport (Leonardo da Vinci) to Roma Termini Railway Station

To travel from Rome Fiumicino Airport to Roma Termini Railway Station, it is advisable to take the train, as taxis are generally not recommended due to the distance and higher cost. Upon exiting the Arrivals area, follow the signs to the airport’s railway station, located within the terminal complex. From there, board a direct train to Roma Termini.

Tickets can be purchased at the Trenitalia ticket office (FS) and must be validated using the yellow stamping machines before boarding. Alternatively, tickets may be purchased online via the Italian Railways website (Trenitalia) and presented in digital format (PDF) on your smartphone, which is valid for travel without additional validation.

A2. From Roma Termini Railway Station to Salerno Railway Station

From Roma Termini Railway Station, take a train to Salerno Railway Station. You can consult the official timetable on the Trenitalia website by entering the relevant station names (Fiumicino Airport, Roma Termini, Salerno) in the departure and arrival fields. Alternatively, you may opt to travel with Italotreno, which also operates this route.

Tickets for both Trenitalia and Italotreno can be conveniently purchased online. The digital PDF ticket on your smartphone is valid for travel and does not require printing.

  1. From Naples Airport (Capodichino) to Salerno Railway Station

Here are the instructions for travellers arriving at Naples Capodichino Airport and aiming to reach Salerno Railway Station.

B1. From Naples Airport (Capodichino) to Napoli Centrale Railway Station

Upon arrival at Naples Capodichino Airport, there are three convenient options to reach Napoli Centrale Railway Station:

  • Alibus Shuttle – A direct bus service departs from the parking area to the right of the Arrivals gate. Tickets can be purchased onboard.
  • Shared Taxi (Taxi Collettivo) – Available near the Alibus stop, this service is a popular, economical alternative.
  • Private Taxi.

B2. From Napoli Centrale Railway Station to Salerno Railway Station

Upon arrival at Napoli Centrale Railway Station, board a train to Salerno Railway Station. The official timetable is available on the Trenitalia website; simply enter “Napoli Centrale” and “Salerno” as your departure and arrival stations. For more economical options, consider Regional trains.

B*. From Naples Airport (Capodichino) to Salerno (Direct Bus)

As an alternative, you can take a direct SITA bus from Naples Capodichino Airport to the city of Salerno. This service operates twice daily on weekdays and reaches central Salerno in approximately 60 minutes. Notably, the bus also stops at the University campus (Fisciano) before arriving in Salerno.

Alternative Options:

  • Private Car with Driver – A chauffeur-driven car can be booked by calling +39 089 799082. The journey takes approximately 40–50 minutes.
  • Taxi – A standard taxi ride to Salerno takes about 40–50 minutes
  • By Car – If driving, take the A3 Naples–Salerno motorway. Exit at Vietri sul Mare, then turn right toward the city center of Salerno.

By Bus

From Salerno: You may take BUSITALIA buses numbered 7, 17, or 27, departing from Vittorio Veneto Square and traveling toward the railway station. These services run approximately every 20 minutes. For detailed schedules, please consult the Bus Timetable at the link

From Naples: The SITA courier bus departs from Via Ferraris, situated near the Ramada Hotel, approximately 300 meters from Garibaldi Square (Central Station). For further details, please refer to the Bus Timetable.

By Car to reach the University Campus in Fisciano

  • From Naples via A3 Motorway (Napoli–Salerno–Reggio Calabria):

Head south on the A3 motorway and continue until you reach the Salerno–Avellino freeway. Follow the signs for Avellino and take the exit for the University of Salerno. At the roundabout, turn right and proceed straight ahead.

  • From Naples via A16 Motorway (Napoli–Bari):

Take the A16 motorway heading towards Bari. At the East Naples toll barrier, merge onto the A30 motorway (Caserta–Salerno) and continue towards Salerno. Take the ramp for Avellino, and shortly after merging onto the Salerno–Avellino motorway, exit at Fisciano–Mercato San Severino. At the end of the exit, turn right.

  • From the East (Bari) via A16 Motorway (Bari–Napoli):

Take the A16 motorway towards Naples. Exit at Avellino East and follow the freeway towards Avellino Square–Salerno. Exit at Fisciano–Mercato San Severino and turn right at the end of the exit.

  • From the South (Reggio Calabria) via A2 Motorway (Salerno–Reggio Calabria):

Take the A2 motorway heading towards Salerno. Before reaching Salerno, follow the fork for the A1 and A16 motorways. Continue towards Avellino and take the exit for the University. At the roundabout, turn right and continue straight ahead.
