Department of Industrial Engineering
The University of Salerno has offered a degree program in Food Engineering since 1984, initially as a curriculum within the Chemical Engineering program and later as a dedicated Master’s Degree. Over the decades, the Department has developed strong expertise in both research and teaching in the field.
This tradition began within the former Department of Chemical and Food Engineering and has continued since its integration into the Department of Industrial Engineering in 2011. The Department remains a reference point for Food and Chemical Engineering, thanks to the continuity ensured by the Section and the Educational Board in Chemical and Food Engineering.
Today, the Department of Industrial Engineering is a leading scientific and educational center, fostering innovation, interdisciplinary research, and collaboration with industry and research institutions at both national and international levels. It actively promotes entrepreneurship through spin-offs and business incubation initiatives, contributing to regional and technological development.
